Schedule: Monday–Friday | Standard business hours (40–50 hours/week)

About the OpportunityWe are a growing, privately held service‑based organization operating in the skilled trades space, with a strong local presence and ambitious growth plans. Following a recent acquisition, the business is entering its next phase of scale and operational maturity. We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to take full ownership of accounting and finance operations while helping guide the organization through system conversions and sustained growth.
This role offers true end‑to‑end financial responsibility, visibility to leadership, and the opportunity to help build scalable processes as the company expands.
- Annual Bonus: 10% (based on company performance)

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial activities for the organization, owning the full accounting lifecycle and serving as a key partner to operational leadership. This role is ideal for a Controller who enjoys being hands‑on while helping prepare a growing business for its next stage.
Current revenue: $15–20M, with projections to reach $30–40M within three years
Headcount: Approximately 55 employees, growing to 75–80 over the next 12 months
Key Responsibilities- Own the full accounting cycle, including:
- General ledger and journal entries
- Job costing
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight
- Payroll coordination
- Inventory accounting
- Lead month‑end close with a target 5‑day close
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reporting
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for the business
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate audits and tax‑related activities
- Partner with leadership on financial analysis and decision‑making
- Support system implementations and process improvements, including:
- ERP conversion to Sage Intacct
- Payroll system conversion to Paylocity
- Help build scalable accounting infrastructure to support continued growth
- Participate in planning for future team expansion (including a planned A/P hire)
- Sage Intacct (ERP conversion in progress)
- Service Titan
- Paylocity (payroll conversion planned)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Strong hands‑on accounting background (close, journal entries, job costing required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in construction, trades, HVAC, plumbing, or service‑based industries is strongly preferred
- Prior experience managing or mentoring staff is a plus (not required)
- Comfortable operating in a growing, evolving environment
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and able to work cross‑functionally
- True ownership of accounting and finance operations
