Role Description This full-time, on-site State Trooper – Police Officer role is based in throughout the State of Indiana. The position involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic and criminal laws, and conducting preliminary investigations into incidents and accidents. Daily tasks include interacting with community members, preparing reports, testifying in court as needed, and collaborating with other law enforcement and emergency services personnel.
The role also includes participating in training exercises, maintaining equipment, and upholding departmental policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Law and its application to state and local regulations.
- Experience or training in Law Enforcement and Police procedures.
- Ability to conduct Criminal Investigations, including evidence collection and documentation.
- Background or aptitude in Emergency Services, including response to accidents, crises, and natural disasters.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to community service.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
- Physical fitness sufficient to meet academy and ongoing duty requirements; ability to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Indiana State Police hiring and background standards.
