Research Assistant (Behavioral Study Tech) – Greenfield, Indiana

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm (once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday)).
- In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances.
- May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
- Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals
- May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
- Collect biological samples
- Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
- Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC)
- Perform medical imaging
- Monitor for behavior changes
- Document findings in LIMS
- Report on any animals concerns to supervisor
- Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program
- Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field
- 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation
- Prior animal research experience
- Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
- Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
- Good time management skills
- AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!
- Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
- Ability to assess and differentiate between normal and abnormal species-specific behavior for a variety of laboratory animal species
- Ability to effectively describe and communicate animal behavior observations using in accordance with established professional behavior terminology
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Pay Rate: $22/hr.
Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including:

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
