Facilities Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift)
This role focuses on performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, and carrying out repairs on facility systems and production equipment to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency and quality. You will work primarily on 3rd shift and support a clean, highly organized manufacturing environment by ensuring that HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems operate reliably and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other facility and production equipment.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on a variety of machines and equipment in accordance with established maintenance schedules and guidelines.
- Replace or repair defective parts such as belts, bearings, motors, sensors, and other components to restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems or abnormalities in machines and facility systems.
- Work with boilers, air compressors, rooftop units (RTUs ranging from 2 to 100 tons), and air-cooled chillers on a regular basis.
- Perform electrical maintenance including lighting repair, ballast replacement, and work on systems at 240V and above.
- Perform plumbing tasks such as snaking drains, changing out sinks and toilets, and maintaining automatic flushers and related fixtures.
- Collaborate closely with team members and team leads to analyze and resolve complex technical problems and support continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to support traceability and planning.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines when working with machinery and building systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Provide technical support to production teams to minimize operational disruptions and help maintain consistent production quality.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and lighting diagrams to troubleshoot and repair facility systems and equipment.
- Use appropriate hand tools and maintenance equipment to perform repairs and adjustments safely and efficiently.
- Participate in an on-call rotation on weekends, responding to urgent maintenance needs as required.
Essential
Skills:
- Experience performing facilities maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with boilers, air compressors, rooftop units (RTUs from 2 to 100 tons), and air-cooled chillers.
- Proficiency in electrical work including lighting maintenance, ballast replacement, and working safely on 240V+ systems.
- Proficiency in plumbing tasks such as snaking drains, changing out sinks and toilets, and servicing automatic flushers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems within a facility or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and lighting diagrams to diagnose and repair issues.
- Experience with HVAC maintenance and repair, including use of appropriate hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- EPA Universal certification.
- Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning).
- Ability to participate in an on-call weekend rotation and respond to maintenance needs as required.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations and standards.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience in facilities, building maintenance, or facility maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience with drywall, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and basic control systems diagnostics.
- Experience providing technical support to production teams in a high-volume environment.
- Strong documentation skills for recording maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
- Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance teams, production staff, and leadership.
- Comfort using a wide range of hand tools and maintenance repair equipment.
