Facilities Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift)

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses and troubleshoots issues, and completes repairs on building systems and production equipment to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency and quality. This role focuses on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems in a highly organized manufacturing environment on a 3rd shift schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other facility and production equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on a variety of machines and equipment according to established maintenance schedules and guidelines.
  • Replace or repair defective parts such as belts, bearings, motors, sensors, and other mechanical and electrical components.
  • Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems or abnormalities in machinery and building systems.
  • Collaborate with team members and team leads to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts and materials used.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines when working with machinery and building systems.
  • Comply with applicable industry regulations and standards to ensure equipment operates within legal and safety parameters.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to minimize operational disruptions and support continuous production.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance on boilers, air compressors, rooftop units (RTUs) ranging from 2 to 100 tons, and air-cooled chillers.
  • Support electrical work including lighting, ballasts, and systems at 240V and above.
  • Perform plumbing tasks such as snaking drains, changing out sinks and toilets, and maintaining auto flushers.
  • Use hand tools and maintenance repair equipment safely and effectively for building and facility maintenance.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to guide troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Assist with PLC troubleshooting as needed to support equipment functionality.

Essential

Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with facilities maintenance in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machines and building systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC systems, including boilers, air compressors, rooftop units (2–100 tons), and air-cooled chillers.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, ballasts, and 240V+ circuits.
  • Practical plumbing skills, including snaking drains, changing sinks and toilets, and maintaining auto flushers.
  • Ability to perform routine and preventative maintenance on building and production equipment.
  • Experience using hand tools and maintenance repair tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, lighting diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in support of equipment operation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and complying with industry regulations and standards.
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning) and participate in on-call coverage on weekends.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • EPA Universal certification.
  • Experience working with boilers, air compressors, rooftop units (2–100 tons), and air-cooled chillers.
  • Experience in drywall repair and carpentry for general building maintenance.
  • General facilities and building maintenance experience, including repair and upkeep of facility infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly about technical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and documentation.
