HDD Drill Operator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Directional Drill operator in central Indiana and surrounding areas in the Midwest.
• Be willing to travel during the week when needed. Home most weekends
• Be in a local operators union or willingness to get into one
• Operation of Horizontal Directional Drill Machines
• Operate HDD Locator a plus
• Help with HDPE Fusion
• Not only run the drill but help crew when needed with other tasks
• Help Locate Utilities and know and understand what you will be crossing
• Water and sewer installation and testing a plus
• Solid understanding of trenching and excavation safety.
• Operate Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steer, Backhoe as needed.
• Other duties as requested by the supervisor.
• General Maintenance on the directional drill

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experienced Horizontal Directional Drill Operator
• Fusion experience and certification for HDPE a plus
• Prior experience in underground utility work.
• Class A CDL or willingness to get one is a plus but not required.
• Strong independent work ethic with ability to work within a team.
• Clear and concise communications.
• Strong sense of urgency, focusing on time.

• Approximately 100% of the position will work from the field.
• Approximately 100% of the position will require travel.
• Some lifting up to 20lbs is required.
