Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists Warehouse Manager with hiring and training of new employees.
- Schedules and oversees warehouse staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Lead and develop company employees.
- Provide training and monitor the employees' performance. Be accessible to all areas of the dock and yard.
- Coach/counsel employees on performance and development and document performance-related material.
- Plan daily manpower needs to ensure customers' freight is delivered and picked up timely and damage-free.
- Communicate with Linehaul/dispatch at various terminals and with dock employees to coordinate the movement of trailers and freight.
- Develop a plan for distributing break loads to achieve goals.
- Monitor service freight and ensure Linehaul compliance.
- Monitor and analyze all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies.
- Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information, and setting appointments.
- Perform administrative functions, as required.
- Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting.
- Communicate with Account Managers to ensure customers' and company's needs are met.
- Ensure all OS&D is identified and processed properly.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings.
- Implement company policy.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ensure all employees are trained on and adhere to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is used correctly.
- Maintain clear and accessible emergency exits and equipment.
- Implement and enforce proper lifting techniques and ergonomics.
- Report and document any accidents or incidents immediately.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and drills to keep safety top of mind.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety where employees feel empowered to speak up about safety concerns.
- 3 plus years leading a logistics team or like experience
- Associates Degree or similar discipline preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with data entry and inventory software and systems.
