Academy of Early Learning is seeking a Building-based Substitute to provide instruction, and support, and to promote student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher or instructional assistant.

• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building for daily assignments.
• Review with the principal all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned.
• Develops and maintains a positive learning environment.
• Works cooperatively with staff.
• Respects student privacy by maintaining the confidentiality of privileged information.
• Teaches the lesson outlined and as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults as appropriate, with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Performs any other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal or designee may from time to time assign and delegate.

SALARY:
Per the GEA Master Agreement Unit C Salary Schedule starting at $18.40/hour

* Use critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to discover new ideas and abilities

• Associate degree preferred
• At least one year’s experience substituting
• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
