• Assist teachers in teaching of students in all aspects of the student day
• Work cooperatively in an interdisciplinary setting with staff, students, parents
• Assist teachers in all aspects of student management – some restraint management is required at times
• Assist with preparation of classroom environment and materials
• Ability to manage and work with small groups of students
• Other duties as assigned

Our preschool environment is designed to foster interaction among children and to promote learning through doing; in an active, prepared and safe setting. Opportunities for learning occur in individual, small, and large groups. Often, activities are arranged around themes such as colors, seasons, animals, etc. The schedule balances active play, exploration, and guided discovery with rest periods to:

• Support children in developing self-confidence, social competence and the enjoyment of learning
• Highlight the essential skills for early reading, writing, and mathematical thinking
• Recognize language is embedded in all developmental areas
• Provide hands‑on active learning based on the child's interest and sense of emerging skills, integrated with the Massachusetts Curriculum Standards (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
• Use critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to discover new ideas and abilities

• Salary per the Unit C contract starting at $18.40/hour
• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

• NCLB Highly Qualified
• Associate Degree or equivalent coursework preferred
• Experience with elementary and middle school students preferred
• Positive interaction style with adults and students
• Dependability, care with details, good attendance, confidentiality
• Such reasonable alternatives as deemed acceptable
