Connecticut River Conservancy is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial strategy, accounting operations, compliance, budgeting, audits, and financial reporting for an established nonprofit organization with an $8.1M FY27 budget
.

• Lead and oversee the organization’s financial operations and accounting functions
• Advise the Executive Director, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board on financial matters
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and long-term planning
• Manage financial statement audits and Single Audits
• Oversee tax filings, regulatory compliance, grants, and allowable costs
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, controls, and systems
• Oversee general ledger, payroll, AP/AR, cash management, and month-end/year-end close
• Monitor investment portfolio performance and organizational risk
• Supervise a 4-person Finance Team
• Support strategic decision-making as a member of the Senior Leadership Team

• 5+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting/finance experience
• CFO, Controller, Finance Director, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, grants, audits, and financial controls
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and board-level reporting
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• CPA is a plus, but not required
• Candidates currently in Springfield, Worcester, Hartford, Boston, or surrounding areas who are open to relocating to Greenfield are encouraged to apply
