Material Handlers/Powered Equipment Operator – Smithfield Foods
OverviewSupport the movement of product throughout the facility using forklifts, jack lifts, high lifts and powered industrial trucks. Maintain a safe, efficient production line and work with the team to meet safety, quality, and teamwork standards.
What You’ll Do- Operate forklifts, jack lifts, high lifts and powered industrial trucks to move products.
- Ensure products reach families across America while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Support teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Work a 12‑hour shift, standing on concrete or platforms.
- Work near animal blood, carcass parts, in wet, humid, hot (100°F+) or cold (20‑40°F) areas.
- Wear hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel‑toed safety shoes.
- Move, lift and carry up to 60 lbs; may use mechanical assistance.
- Work in a noisy environment; use PPE.
- Climb ladders and climb on steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
- At least 18 years old.
- Willing and able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform continuous/repetitive movements such as grasping, pinching and arm flexing.
- Operate equipment requiring certification during the qualification period.
- Must be able to work scheduled shift and, if required, overtime.
Hourly competitive starting pay – $21.93/hour with $1.00/hour shift differential for second shift positions. Comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits and more. Education benefit available to full‑time and part‑time team members upon meeting eligibility requirements.
