Position Summary: The Volunteer Services Coordinator (VSC) is responsible for planning and implementing the Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care (PVHPC) Volunteer Support Services program. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the VSC serves as a liaison between volunteers, the team, and other staff members. The VSC also serves as a consultant to staff on volunteerism, as an advocate for volunteers and the volunteer role within the agency and in the community.

Essential VSC Job Functions

• Develop, implement, and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least two (2) recruitment and training sessions per year.
• Assist in training volunteers for assignments to various departments in the agency
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Ensure volunteers comply with annual safety, training, and administrative requirements.
• Maintain monthly statistics and program records per standards.
• Coordinate support and education, meetings, and events for the volunteer team.
• Orient new employees and others (interns, students, visitors) to the PVHPC volunteer program.
• Promptly establish a plan for patients and family/caregivers referred for Volunteer services in collaboration with the IDT.
• Attend and participate in IDT meetings.
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP regulatory requirements.
• Monitor risk management issues for Volunteer support services and notify supervisor of related incidents.
• Reevaluate the volunteer program as necessary, and prepare an annual plan draft by the end of each year.
• Participate as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
• Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
• Annually monitor volunteer personnel satisfaction within the VSS program.
• Demonstrate continuous growth in professional skills and knowledge in the field.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Development Duties

• Assist in the agency’s marketing/public relations plan to include brochures, press releases, Social media, website, community-informational events, print, radio, reporting, and record keeping.
• Implement the agency’s fundraising program to include donor solicitations, fundraising event planning, donor recognition, reporting and record keeping.
• Coordinate event fundraising planning with staff ‘event organizers’.
