To ensure that displays, coolers, and shelves are clean, neat and fully stocked while providing prompt and responsive customer service. To ensure goods are received, priced and fully stocked according to established procedures. Handle purchasing for assigned areas.

Purchasing, Stocking, and Receiving:

• Handle replenishment buying for assigned areas on a regular basis and assist in other areas as needed. Maintain firm control of purchasing to enhance inventory turns.
• Ensure department goals for sales, margin and customer satisfaction are met in all areas.
• Develop and maintain successful working relationships with ordering departments and outside vendors.
• Ensure stock levels are maintained with limited out of stocks, and back stock is kept at acceptable levels.
• Learn and stay current with all delivery schedules and ensure that receiving area is prepared for incoming deliveries.
• Ensure deliveries are received promptly and accurately and all products and invoices are routed to the appropriate areas.
• Ensure damaged or mispicked items are handled using established procedures.
• Ensure pricing systems are clear and followed so pricing is accurate; be alert to incorrect pricing at all times.
• Be familiar with plan for back stock storage and develop systematic knowledge of goods in back stock; alert manager if back stock is not rotated according to department practice.
• Follow guidelines established in grocery department to ensure department is fully stocked at the expected rate.

Customer Service:

• Respond promptly to calls for assistance with customer needs, especially from cashiers.
• Assist customers with grocery questions and special orders in prompt, friendly manner while continuing high level of productivity in stocking.
• Be clear about regular items out of stock and when they are expected, if possible.
• Study written materials on natural foods nutrition and cooking methods, and develop sufficient knowledge to be answer customers' questions.

Administration:

• Attend all staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
• Participate in quarterly inventories.

Maintenance:

• Maintain receiving, storage and display areas in clean, orderly and efficient condition.
• Take out trash and break down boxes regularly.
• Be alert to condition of customer areas; sweep, mop, clean up spills as needed.
• Participate in regular and thorough cleanings of all work and display areas.

• Ability and willingness to work independently and to manage time productively.
• Demonstrated ability to handle purchasing responsibilities including firm grasp of variables leading to success in meeting sales and margin goals.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully serving the public.
• Facility with numbers and basic calculator procedures.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift 50 pounds and repeatedly climb stairs.
• Detail oriented and commitment to accuracy and productivity.
• Reliability and interest in working hard as team member.
• Ability to handle multiple time demands.
