Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager and working under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results while following plasma collection regulations and EHS guidance.
How you will contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and handle medical emergencies per standard operating procedures, including developing standing orders with the Center Physician and arranging transport to emergency care.
- Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and assess the need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats in the community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate-level nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification (LPN or LVN) in the location of the assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Compliance with state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation & BenefitsHourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20.
