Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)
Reports to the Plasma Center Manager and works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including assessment of informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serologic protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues regarding donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance when applicable.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate‑level nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
Hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20 (may vary based on qualifications and experience). Eligible for short‑term incentives.
