Midwest Veterinary Specialists is a state‑of‑the‑art veterinary surgery, sports medicine and rehabilitation hospital in Greenfield, Wisconsin. With a tight‑knit team, our stunning facilities, and comprehensive modalities, we will provide exceptional surgical and non‑surgical care for working/sporting and companion dogs starting from the consultation, all the way through diagnostic work‑up, and surgical & non‑surgical therapeutic programs. All with the goal of achieving optimal outcomes and helping dogs and cats to live their best lives.

We are looking for a full‑time Surgical Sterilization Assistant to join our team. Team members with a positive, enthusiastic attitude, and a profound attention to detail are desired. Interested candidates should have experience both working within a team environment and independently. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated, conscientious, and able to handle multiple priorities. Previous experience in veterinary surgery and sterilization processing is preferred, but not required.
Team members will be welcomed to a new, thoughtfully designed state‑of‑the‑art 9,000 sq ft surgical and rehab hospital that shares the building with an adjacent, brand‑new, 6,000 sq ft veterinary urgent care center. It is complete with all the toys and amenities you want and expect to ease workflow and maximize efficiency: digital high‑definition radiography (with standing radiograph capability), GE VCT Lightspeed 64 CT scanner, GE LOGIQ S8 ultrasound, IDEXX in‑house labs, multiple large ORs, a full complement of surgical instrumentation, large treatment area and workstations, breakroom, large windows for easy line‑of‑sight, plenty of kennel and run space for patients, and plans for a future gait analysis system and MRI trailer.
The large rehabilitation gym includes Aquapaws SS underwater treadmills, a Swimex jetted therapy pool, an Airpaws 200 land treadmill, a ceiling lift and track system for patient mobility assistance, plenty of room for land‑based therapies, and generous dedicated rehab kennel and run space. Large expansive windows throughout the hospital create a cheerful environment!

Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, within the range of approximately 10 am‑9 pm; 2‑3 weekends per year
We practice rigorous cleaning protocols for all areas of our hospital. We have a state‑of‑the‑art HVAC system that utilizes NeedlePoint Bipolar Ionization to remove bacteria, viruses, and mold permanently from circulation. Masks are welcomed as desired.

Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment and implants
- Examining instruments and equipment meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned, sanitized and in working condition
- Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance and supplies.
- Performing required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintaining records
- Manual dexterity and the ability to handle fragile equipment
- Processing sterile surgical implants and equipment through the use of manual cleaning, ultrasonic washer, steam sterilization and/or plasma sterilization systems
- Controlling inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates
- Maintaining a clean and organized pack and prep area
- Processing sterilization, adhering to policies and procedures
- Accurately labeling each pack following protocols in place
- Performing other job‑related duties as assigned
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work independently
