Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Tiello has partnered with an established electrical contractor dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions and are seeking an experienced controller to support their continued growth and company success.

• Oversee the monthly and annual closing process
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Manage work-in-progress (WIP) schedules using percentage-of-completion accounting
• Analyze job cost variances and gross margin trends by project

• Ensure accurate job setup, cost coding, and cost allocation
• Partner with the president and project managers to review job performance, forecasts, and change orders
• Monitor over/under billings and contract asset/liability balances
• Support project closeout and final cost reconciliation

• Oversee accounts receivable, billing, collections, and lien waiver processes
• Manage accounts payable and subcontractor/vendor payments
• Develop and maintain cash-flow forecasts
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies

• Coordinate annual financial statement audit
• Manage bonding, insurance, and lender reporting requirements
• Oversee sales/use tax, payroll tax, and contractor-specific compliance
• Serve as primary liaison with external CPA firm for the annual audit and tax return preparation

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting department personnel including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll team members
• Improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting efficiency
• Support ERP/accounting system optimization of Trimble Spectrum
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and growth

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with construction industry exposure
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Job costing and WIP reporting
  • Percentage-of-completion accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills

Preferred

• Prior experience with an electrical contractor of both commercial and residential construction
• Experience supporting bonding companies and banking relationships
• Experience with Trimble Spectrum accounting system, Kojo, and Siteline

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
• Practical, hands-on leader comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communicator who can partner effectively with operations
• High integrity and commitment to accuracy and accountability
