Accounting Manager

Are you an audit-trained accountant ready to move into a high-impact industry role? Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to partner directly with the Controller in strengthening financial reporting, internal controls, and operational performance across a rapidly growing, family-owned transportation company. This is not a maintenance role. For the next 12–18 months, this position will function very much like an internal audit + process transformation role — identifying gaps, improving controls, modernizing reporting, and helping elevate the accounting function to the next level.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements
• Drive weekly profit plan and operational performance reporting
• Perform deep variance analysis and deliver actionable insights to leadership
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes across the organization
• Support internal and external audits
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Oversee working capital metrics (DSO, DPO, cash forecasting)
• Coordinate with third-party tax providers (sales/use tax, IFTA, corporate filings)
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency

What We’re Looking For:

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Public accounting background strongly preferred (Big 4 or national firm ideal)
• CPA preferred
• Strong GAAP foundation and technical accounting skills
• Experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments a plus
• A self-starter who thrives in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
• Someone comfortable being both strategic and hands-on
