Accounting Manager | Growing Organization | Greensboro, NC

A well-established and growing organization in the Triad is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations while developing a high-performing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with leadership and process improvement.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager will oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, month‑end close, budgeting support, financial reporting, and team development. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and thrives in a collaborative, team‑first culture.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
  • Manage the month‑end and year‑end close processes while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, payment issues, and billing questions.
  • Analyze financial data and reconciliation trends to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and special finance projects.
  • Prepare financial reports and provide analysis to leadership to support business decisions.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred:
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software such as Great Plains, Net Suite, Sage, Quick Books, or similar platforms.
  • SQL experience is a plus.
