Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an on-site Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a position based in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role is suited to someone who can manage invoice processing with accuracy, maintain organized financial records, and help ensure vendors are paid on time. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across the full accounts payable cycle and is comfortable handling both electronic and check-based payment activity.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, assign the correct general ledger or expense codes, and enter transactions accurately into the accounting system.

- Manage the complete accounts payable process from invoice receipt through payment completion while maintaining proper documentation.

- Prepare and process ACH payments and check runs in accordance with established schedules and approval requirements.

- Reconcile vendor statements, investigate payment discrepancies, and follow up to resolve outstanding issues promptly.

- Verify invoice details against supporting records to ensure amounts, approvals, and coding are correct before payment.

- Maintain up-to-date accounts payable files and records to support audits, reporting needs, and internal controls.

- Communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding payment status, missing information, and invoice-related questions.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable, including ownership of full-cycle AP activities.

- Strong ability to code invoices and assign expenses to the appropriate accounts accurately.

- Hands-on experience processing ACH transactions and coordinating regular check runs.

- Solid understanding of invoice review procedures, payment workflows, and recordkeeping standards.

- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced finance environment.

- Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems and standard office software.

- Ability to communicate clearly with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payment issues efficiently.
