Lead Accounts Payable Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and travel expenditures accurately and on time in compliance with university, UNC System, State, and Federal policies.
• Interpret policy and provide campus‑wide training on Payment Works, Chrome River, Jaggaer, and Spartan Mart invoicing tools.
• Resolve complex accounting issues with vendors and campus partners, ensuring policy compliance and accurate record status.
• Support internal and external audit requirements, preparing data and reports for internal and external audits.
• Maintain data integrity by monitoring reports from Chrome River/Emburse and updating records as needed.
• Assist with weekly cash projections and year‑end processes such as tax reporting.
• Identify process efficiencies and recommend improvements to business workflows and financial records.
• Provide coaching and functional consultation on complex reimbursements, invoices, and supplier onboarding.
• Develop user manuals, training materials, and campus‑wide training programs for operational software.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for campus business officers regarding disbursement policies and system functionality.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a minimum of 12 hours of accounting coursework; or associate’s degree in business administration or accounting with one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum two years of accounts payable experience preferred.

Compensation range: $55,000 – $60,000. Position is permanent, full‑time.
