Job Description
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical tax knowledge with outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative team mindset. What Makes This Position Unique?
This role offers a schedule that is ideal for experienced tax professionals seeking flexibility:
- January through April/May: Approximately 40 hours per week
- June through December: Approximately 8 hours per week, or one day per week
This position is fully in-office and is not a remote role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns accurately and efficiently
- Review client-provided documentation and identify missing information
- Conduct tax research as needed
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters and return preparation
- Explain tax concepts, findings, and recommendations in a clear and professional manner
- Assist and support other team members with technical tax questions
- Maintain detailed and organized work papers
- Help ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented office culture
Qualifications:
Required
- Several years of recent tax preparation experience in a CPA firm, accounting firm, or similar professional environment
- Strong knowledge of individual and business tax returns
- Experience with tax preparation software and electronic workpaper systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines during a fast-paced tax season
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients and staff
- Professional, dependable, and ethical work habits
Preferred
- CPA, EA, or accounting degree
- Prior experience working directly with clients
- Ultra Tax experience
