Position Summary

The Assistant Director for Housing Operations provides leadership and oversight for all housing operations and administrative functions within Residential Education & Housing. This position is responsible for managing housing assignments, occupancy, room selection processes, housing software administration, access systems, meal plan coordination, housing communications, and operational planning for residence hall openings and closings. The Assistant Director serves as the primary administrator for housing systems and processes, ensuring efficient and student-centered delivery of housing services while supporting institutional goals related to student success, retention, and campus living.

This position collaborates extensively with Facilities, Public Safety, Information Technology Services, Dining Services, Student Accounts, Accessibility Services, Title IX, Admissions, and other campus partners.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support front office operations and customer service functions as needed.
  • Participate in divisional committees, orientation programs, admissions events, and institutional initiatives.
  • Assist with emergency response efforts impacting residential students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Education & Housing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of professional experience in housing operations, housing assignments, residence life, student affairs administration, facilities coordination, or related field.
  • Experience utilizing housing management software and database systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and student success.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and enterprise database systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adirondack Solutions THD, Star Rez, or comparable housing software.
  • Experience with occupancy management, room assignments, or housing logistics in higher education.
  • Knowledge of ADA accommodation processes, Title IX housing considerations, and student housing compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with facilities management, access control systems, or student accounts.
  • Experience utilizing data and assessment to improve operational effectiveness.
Working Conditions

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities during peak operational periods, including opening, closing, and move-in events. The position requires the ability to navigate residence halls and campus facilities and respond to operational issues as needed.
