POSITION SUMMARYThe Student Office Assistant provides front desk and administrative support to the Office of the President. This role is responsible for greeting visitors, answering calls, and assisting with communication and scheduling tasks. The position is ideal for a student interested in developing professional office and communication skills while contributing to the daily operations of the President’s Office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFront Desk & Call Support
- Greet visitors in a professional and welcoming manner and direct them appropriately.
- Answer incoming calls, transfer them to the appropriate office/department, or take messages using provided templates.
- Record call details in the office call log to ensure accurate tracking and follow-up.
- Use established scripts and complaint templates to handle calls with consistency and professionalism.
Administrative Support
- Assist with managing emails and scheduling/calendar requests following office standards.
- Support coordination of meetings and communication with campus stakeholders.
- Help update office documents, directories, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare and organize materials as requested by staff.
General Office Coordination
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and other departments as needed for information flow.
- Provide additional administrative support to the Office of the President as assigned.
- Must be a current student enrolled in the federal work study program and in good academic standing.
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with visitors, callers, and staff.
- Ability to follow scripts, templates, and SOPs while exercising sound judgment.
- Comfortable with office technology, spreadsheets, and calendaring systems.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy.
- Hours scheduled based on office coverage needs during business hours.
- Hours are contingent upon federal work study award allocation and student class schedule.
Hourly rate based on federal work study guidelines.
