PrimaryDuties/Brief Description of Work
This position provides direct leadership and support to children and adults with disabilities in traditional recreation summer camps operated by Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department.
The Camp Inclusion Counselor will- Ensure participant’s safety
- Implement the participant’s inclusion action plan
- Communicate with parents, supervisor, and center director regarding participant
- Assist staff to make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities
- Support and encourage the participant to engage in all activities with other participants
- Close supervision and attentive to participant’s needs
- Some personal care
- Monitoring and modifying behaviors
Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level employee and is reviewed through conferences and observation of performance or completed assignments.
This position is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid Driver's license
- 1+ years’ experience working with persons with disabilities
- 1+ years of summer camp experience
- Possession of current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
- Behavior Intervention Training
