Job Description

Christman is seeking a Project Engineer to support large‑scale commercial construction projects in the Greensboro area. The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to manage daily job site functions such as RFI and submittal processing, material procurement, safety compliance, and project documentation.

What You Will Do
  • Produce and organize project documents in accordance with Christman standards to ensure easy access for team members.
  • Prepare close‑out, turnover, and archiving documents, securing required safety programs, MSDS sheets, and quality control plans.
  • Plan, communicate, and process close‑out documents for all subcontracts as work concludes.
  • Summarize key discussions, questions, and decisions from project, owner, and subcontractor meetings.
  • Partner with client and architect to establish punch‑list contents and expedite completion within 30 days of substantial completion.
  • Assist the Project Manager in creating inspection logs and identifying necessary inspections.
  • Provide procurement, material tracking, and inspection information to the Project Superintendent.
  • Manage the RFI process, update contract drawings, and ensure trade contractor documents are current.
  • Organize submittal requirements, maintain a submittal log, review shop drawings, and manage architect submittal reviews.
  • Support the Project Superintendent by monitoring quality of work and compliance with construction documents.
  • Assist with daily reports and management of progress and quality photos.
  • Post required safety information and signage, ensuring all workers wear mandatory PPE.
  • Model safety awareness, observe practices, and report concerns to management.
  • Support logistics for safety initiatives listed in the site‑specific safety plan.
  • Serve as a peer coach when required.
  • Complete all assigned and required training for this role.
What You Will Bring to the Team Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of construction industry experience. Internship(s) in construction management or related field also qualify.
  • OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to interact and build effective relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility, and keep commitments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Passion for team‑based planning and problem‑solving.
  • Commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The majority of work is performed outside at the construction site or in an office trailer. The position involves exposure to loud noises, requires protective equipment (hardhats, safety glasses, high‑visibility clothing), and may be affected by weather conditions.

  • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to talk, hear, use hands/fingers, operate a telephone, and type on a keyboard.
  • Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
