Product Developer - Womenswear Apparel

Job Description

Fulltime/ onsite role - Greensboro, NC reporting to the Design Director (Relocation package available for an ideal candidate).

About The Job

Our client is seeking an Experienced Product Developer (Womenswear Apparel) to join their team and serve an instrumental role in the continued growth of the brand! The ideal candidate has strong Product Development skills, thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, is highly organized and proactive, and is excited for the opportunity, through ownership of process and attention to detail, to make a material impact in a growing business and brand.

This position requires strong interpersonal skills at a process and communication level, and a hands‑on, solution‑oriented approach to product development.

Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Design Director and Design team, own product development from design handoff through production.
  • Manage development for woven, knit, print, and novelty styles across seasonal collections (12 drops/year, 4 seasonal collections).
  • Own all print and novelty execution, including strike offs, revisions, approvals, and final execution.
  • Manage fabric/style development, including sourcing, testing, approvals, and substitutions as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed development packs and initiate development styles in PLM.
  • Execute fabric, trim, color, and print approvals and manage sampling timelines, and communicate directly with factories to articulate development needs, proactively follow up, troubleshoot challenges, and address concerns.
  • Coordinate communication with freelance surface and print designers to ensure timely execution and revisions.
  • Track development progress and confidently communicate status of strike offs, fabrics, sampling, and production.
  • Attend development and production fittings in partnership with Technical Design.

Collaborate closely with Design, Technical Design, and Production teams throughout the entire product cycle.

  • Partner with the Design Director and teammates to ensure priorities are aligned and deliver product in a cost‑effective and timely manner.
  • Understand the balance between design intent, product strategy, and production requirements while maintaining brand integrity and quality.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.

Participate in vendor meetings for development, sourcing, and innovation.

Qualifications And Personal Characteristics
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Product Development within RTW or contemporary market.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of woven, knit, print, embroidery, and novelty construction.
  • Experience managing fabrications, trims, embellishments, and surface design execution.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Innately proactive with the ability to anticipate needs and follow through independently.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workload across multiple deadlines.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and solution focused.
  • Proven ability to manage complex development processes and high style counts.
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Passionate team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary compensation will vary depending upon a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to, skill set, experience, training, and degrees.
  • Financial compensation is one component of Marie Oliver’s compensation package.
