university communications elevates uncg’s reputation, advances institutional strategy, and fosters community pride through integrated marketing and communications initiatives aligned with its public mission as a student-centered research university. The department develops and executes strategic marketing and communications programs that enhance the institution’s visibility, engage key audiences, and convey the university’s unique value. Working collaboratively across the university’s schools, colleges, and administrative units, university communications manages advertising, analytics, media relations, marketing campaigns, market research, content strategy, branding, digital engagement, sponsor ships, and crisis communications to drive enrollment, build awareness, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders.

summary

the position strategically captures artistic, creative, and skilled videography and photography, producing multimedia storytelling to reflect unc greensboro. The position serves as a secondary videographer/editor and secondary photographer with a strong emphasis on video production. Create critical university images and videos used to communicate with a variety of internal and external audiences, including but not limited to prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community members.

This position requires strong technical skills in video and still photography. This position will concentrate on creating assets that can be used for uncg news as well as usable assets for our social media platforms. This position must have the ability to manage multiple projects at one time and work efficiently under multiple deadlines.

  • candidates possessing and/or willing to pursue an faa‑issued drone license are required.
  • candidates possessing and/or willing to pursue an faa and state-issued drone license are required.
minimum qualifications

high school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

preferred qualifications
  • digital asset management software such as merlin, canto, or photo mechanic, knowledge and experience are a plus.
  • ability to properly light an interview and/or scene-based storytelling video capture for sequences.
  • must be a self‑starter, be independent, and also be able to collaborate and work with a team.
  • strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • strong troubleshooting, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • strong motivation for continuous learning and skill development.
  • must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent (clean) driving record.
  • must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • must be available to work different shifts, including some nights and weekends.
  • must be organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
