Temporary University Physician

Overview

The University Physician plays a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of the student population. They provide accessible, high-quality, and culturally competent healthcare to students, supporting their academic success and personal development. This position focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions, health education, and collaboration with campus partners to foster a healthy campus environment.

Work Hours:

Flexible; but minimum of 16 hours per week.

• Provide direct patient care for a wide range of health concerns, including acute illnesses, chronic conditions, mental health support, and preventive care. Conduct physical exams, obtain medical histories, and develop treatment plans. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and institutional policies.
• Educate students on health maintenance, disease prevention, and lifestyle choices. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in primary care and or student health

• At least 2 years experience in college health, family medicine, or urgent care. Ability to work effectively with all (diverse) populations.
• Commitment to student-centered care and health equity.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in EHR systems and telehealth platforms.

• Current, unrestricted medical license in North Carolina
• BLS certification
• DEA licensure
