Overview

Primary Purpose Of Position The developing Physician Assistant (PA) Program at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor to teach, research, advising, admissions, and performing other responsibilities as delegated by the Program Director. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position that reports to the Program Director.

Primary Function Of Organizational Unit North Carolina A & T State University is a public land grant high research institution that is committed to teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service. As the largest HBCU in the nation, our enrollment is over 13,487 students and our workforce includes over 2,000 employees. The University offers over 90-degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels through eight academic colleges.

The University is accredited by SACS and is part of the UNC system.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of master’s level Physician Assistant (PA) students.
  • Provide student advising, mentoring, and recruitment; engage in curriculum development; participate in program assessment and accreditation-related procedures.
  • Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in curriculum development, instruction, and course coordination in the didactic and/or clinical phase of the program.
  • Be effective in course design, delivery, and evaluation; supervise and support PA students in independent research projects.
  • Maintain an excellent record of scholarly publications.
  • Provide service to the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, the college and university, and to professional and community organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree (Doctorate preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
  • High degree of organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and assess competitive applicants
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Evidence of program planning and management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • A PhD, EdD, DHSc, or professional doctorate in a related field with a demonstrated record of research
  • Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise and pedagogical skills to teach in relevant scientific areas
  • 5+ years of experience in higher education
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Graduate from an accredited PA program
  • Eligible for PA licensure in North Carolina
  • Current NCCPA certification
