Position Summary
The Recruiting and Academic Advising Specialist is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Online Programs in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The primary responsibilities include recruiting potential online students into the Bryan School (at virtual and in-person events), providing pre-admission advising to online students, and advising enrolled online campus students in the Bryan School.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in recruitment activities, including responding to email and web inquiries quickly; presenting at virtual information sessions for prospective students; presenting or working at on-campus school and university transfer events and events with community college partners; and engaging in post-event follow-up with prospective students from all events. These may include evening and weekend recruitment commitments.
- Engage with prospective students to encourage and assist them through the application process.
- Assist prospective undergraduate students with understanding transfers, major selection, financial aid and scholarships, and other pre-enrollment issues to ensure a smooth transition.
- Assist enrolled online undergraduate students with course selection and pathway planning, academic goal setting, and development.
- Assist with first-year and transfer new student orientations, as well as participate in advising and registration sessions for returning and readmitted students each semester.
- Utilize technology to communicate with students in the most effective ways.

- Master’s Degree in Business, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution with a minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to student recruitment or student advising in a higher education setting
- Proven experience working with diverse populations in a higher education setting
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days/evenings/weekends as needed
