The Assistant Director of Student Affairs at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) is responsible for supporting the student affairs activities of DO and MSBS students. The Assistant Director of Student Affairs is responsible for the delivery of effective and quality service to students in one or more of the following areas: student support, student activities and programs, student clubs and organizations, interface with other Campbell University Health Profession Programs and support advisement of students throughout the year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Director of Student Affairs in the promotion of strategies and programs designed to positively impact student satisfaction.
- Assist the Director of Student Affairs in the development of short- and long-range vision of the department and support the implementation of these plans.
- Collaborate with the Department of Behavioral Health regarding the peer mentoring program and all related activities.
- Provide support to Orientation activities.
- Coordinate professionalism seminars for students.
- Oversee n class officer elections, and student organization elections.
- Oversee all student organization events, manage activity budgets, and coordinate activities including health fairs and community events, creation of fundraising pages and reports for club merchandise.
- Serve as liaison between student organizations and administration.
- Serve as an advocate for personal, academic and professional development; including providing consultation and expert advice to students and administration in matters related to student affairs.
- Work with the Director of Student Affairs in advising students on student affairs matters and aid in resolving student related issues.
- Work with the Director of Student Affairs in resolving matters of significance related to student affairs, including effectively managing and resolving student complaints.
- Provide counseling to students in personal and academic matters.
- Work and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. As directed by the Director of Student Affairs, make effective decisions and negations on various projects and assignments.
- Serve on various committees including graduation, orientation, convocation, and any that have student involvement.
- Maintain records of student activities and programs in preparation to support residency letters.
- Develop and disburse announcements of CUSOM activities for digital signage and approve and provide communication regarding information on all club events and merchandise.
- Work effectively with other College and University areas to enhance the quality of student life.
- Assist in the planning of student events such as Accepted Students Day, Orientation, White Coat ceremony, and Graduation week activities. Planning responsibilities include interaction with faculty, administration community leaders and outside vendors.
- Serve as an integral member of the Admissions and Student Affairs Team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to;
Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines. - Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in a related field;
Master’s Degree preferred. - 2-4 years’ experience in higher education is required.
- Experience in recruiting, student services, and academic advising is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in emotional situations.
