The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks innovative, energetic, and accomplished candidates for the position of Assistant Director for Wood Family and UNC Scholars Programming. The Assistant Director plays a key role in managing a large and complex program of both need‑based and academic scholarships (over 1,200 funds) intended to support institutional goals of access and excellence. This role plans and implements programmatic features and high‑impact experiences for the UNC Scholars Program, cultivates scholar identity and engagement, facilitates scholarship selection, partners with admissions, oversees recruitment outreach, collaborates with Communications specialists for outreach, and supports donor stewardship and annual trustee visits.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRelevant post‑Bachelor’s degree required (or foreign equivalent). Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience in the delivery and/or management of student support functions may also be considered.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience- Demonstrated success in coordinating student‑focused programs at a four‑year institution and executing programming initiatives.
- Experience building and cultivating partnerships with constituents across campus or outside the university.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse student populations.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Strong initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects independently and maintain an exemplary work ethic.
- Master’s degree in higher education or related field.
- Experience coordinating recurring undergraduate student programs and events aligned with the academic calendar.
- Experience with financial aid, career, and/or academic counseling.
- Experience supporting cohorts of college students.
None specified beyond normal duties for a campus-based role.
Campus Security Authority ResponsibilitiesThis position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. The incumbent must report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual reporting training.
