Work Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm; with occasional weekends and evenings based on program demands. Work may also include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

About the Role:

As a Youth Development Coordinator, you will provide leadership and oversight for youth and teen programming across multiple community recreation centers. This position focuses on after school programs, summer day camps, playground programming, and teen initiatives. You will ensure operational excellence, staff development, program quality, and alignment with departmental goals and safety standards.

Essential Functions

  • Direct and coordinate youth and teen recreation programs across multiple sites, including after school programs, summer day camps, and seasonal initiatives.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff assigned to youth programs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective, safe, and high-quality program delivery.
  • Monitor attendance data, reports, and program documentation to evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvements.
  • Address safety concerns, risk management issues, incident response, and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support budget oversight, fee collection processes, and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations that support youth and family services.
  • Represent the department at community meetings, events, and collaborative initiatives.

Additional Information:

The individual will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as dictated by program and facility needs and maintain a reliable means of communication (i.e., home or cellular phone) for call-back purposes and/or emergency situations. The individual in this position may be required to work during periods of inclement weather to ensure that service delivery continues uninterrupted. Work requires the ability to perform the physical duties of this job, which includes lifting up to 50 lbs.

The individual in the position may be assigned to assist with other program areas as program demands dictate. Travel between multiple recreation sites is required.

This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    with
    4-6 years of experience managing the operations and programming of a community recreation center, or similar facility
  • “OR” an equivalency of an Associate’s Degree
    with
    6-8 years of experience managing community recreation centers or similar facilities.
  • 4 or more years of experience in recreation programming, including managing employees and volunteers
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation
  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certified “OR” ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Parks and Recreation Management, Sports Management, Business Management, Exercise Sports Science, or a related field
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
  • Experience with recreation management software
