A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University seeks a dynamic and innovative Chairperson for the Department of Management who possesses a strong record of scholarship, teaching, and service, along with demonstrated leadership experience in higher education. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to fostering excellence in research, teaching, and service and possess a clear vision for advancing the department’s educational, research, and community engagement efforts.
This is a 12‑month administrative position with a tenure‑track faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The preferred start date is July 2026. The candidate must have an earned doctorate in management, business administration, or a closely related field and a record of scholarly activity commensurate with appointment as a professor or associate professor. Six or more years of demonstrated excellence in leadership and administration are required.
Experience in the leadership of a large academic unit or similar organization is preferred.
- Lead the Department of Management, building cooperation and consensus among faculty, administration, and external partners.
- Advise and mentor faculty and students, fostering student success and faculty scholarship.
- Champion research, teaching, and service excellence across the department.
- Represent the department in university and external forums.
- Commit to continuous improvement of the department’s educational, research, and community engagement programs.
- Earned doctorate in management, business administration, or a closely related field.
- Record of scholarly activity consistent with appointment as a professor or associate professor.
- At least six years of demonstrated excellence in leadership and administration.
- Strong record in research, teaching, and service.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of building cooperation and consensus.
- Continuous commitment to student success and faculty scholarship.
