Position Overview
The Department of Built Environment in the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A& T State University invites applications for a 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position in Construction Science and Management beginning August 2026. The position is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level; however, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a higher rank.
The successful candidate will develop a collaborative and innovative research program in construction estimating, construction scheduling, building information modeling (BIM), structural systems, construction materials, construction management, and environmental issues in construction management. Experience or expertise in occupational and environmental safety and health (e.g., OSHA 10‑Hour & 30‑Hour certifications, HAZWOPER training) is a plus. The ability to integrate advanced technologies into teaching and research is highly desirable and should support the Department and College focus on Applied Science and Technology.
Responsibilities- Teach Construction Management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Develop curriculum and new courses, participate in ABET assessment activities, and support student recruitment.
- Direct student research and mentor undergraduate researchers.
- Provide service to the university, department, and broader community.
- Possibly teach courses in the Environmental Health and Safety program (construction safety and fire prevention).
- Engage in service activities for the department, college, and university.
- Collaborate with colleagues across related disciplines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field by the anticipated appointment date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post‑doctoral experience with a demonstrated record of independent research and publishing.
- Minimum two years of industry experience.
- OSHA 10‑Hour & 30‑Hour certifications, HAZWOPER training, or similar safety credentials.
- Experience with BIM and advanced technologies.
- Track record of securing external research funding.
- Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.

While the primary expectation is an on‑site position, the university is open to remote or hybrid work arrangements in compliance with university and state policies. Employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a 2‑hour commute of their duty station.
