Primary Purpose Of Position
The primary purpose of the position is to design and deliver engaging, hands‑on science instruction that strengthens elementary and middle school students’ foundational science skills while building confidence and curiosity in science.
Work HoursDay Camp:
Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Elementary Education, Science, STEM‑related field, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience leading hands‑on activities, experiments, or project‑based learning for elementary/middle school‑aged students.
- Prior experience with STEM camps, science clubs, or enrichment programs.
- Three (3) years of experience teaching and facilitating learning for students in grades 3‑5 or 6‑8 in a school, camp, laboratory, or enrichment setting.
- Demonstrated familiarity with North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Science.
- Ability to explain basic science concepts in a fun, age‑appropriate, and engaging manner.
- Strong classroom or group management skills in informal learning environments.
- Enthusiasm for inquiry‑based learning, creativity, and student exploration.
- Ability to provide and follow safety procedures for hands‑on science activities.
- Clear communication skills and a positive, supportive approach to working with students.
North Carolina teaching license in Elementary Education or Middle Grades Science (preferred).
Remote/Hybrid Work ArrangementThis position is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
