Bryan School Undergraduate Student Services specialize in academic goal setting, course selection, assisting with major and minor decisions, graduation planning, recommendation letters, and academic referrals. We build relationships with our students and partner with departments across campus to ensure that students have the answers they need.
In the Bryan School of Business & Economics, we create and disseminate knowledge about the theory and practice of business. PositionSummary
The Academic Advisor position is a full‑time appointment that will report to the Director of Undergraduate Student Services in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The primary areas of responsibility will be to serve as an Academic Advisor for assigned online campus undergraduate majors, and to plan, coordinate, and participate in student services activities as assigned.
- Assist undergraduate students assigned to the position, to include but not limited to course planning/selection, academic goal setting, and development.
- Assist with freshman and transfer new student orientations, as well as participate in advising and registration sessions for returning and readmitted students each semester.
- Participate in recruitment activities, including weekly prospective student meetings, evening recruitment commitments, and Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) sessions.
- Plan, coordinate, and assess current advising models to make recommendations on procedures and practices to improve student services.
- Utilize technology to communicate with students in the most effective ways.
- Ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities or projects in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Willingness to embrace innovative advising practices using technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a team environment and to make a positive contribution toward the mission and vision of the organization.
- Adept at interacting with others in a professional and collaborative manner.
