We are seeking an engaging and dedicated Music/Chorus Teacher to join our team and inspire students through the joy of music.

Position Summary

The Music/Chorus Teacher will design and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for grades K-8, lead choral ensembles, and support school-wide performances and events. The ideal candidate is passionate about arts education, skilled in classroom management, and able to create a positive, inclusive environment where students can develop technical skills, creativity, and confidence.

Responsibilities

* Develop and deliver standards-aligned instruction in general music and chorus for grades K-8.

* Teach fundamental music concepts, vocal techniques, music literacy, and performance skills.

* Direct and prepare students for concerts, programs, and community performances.

* Select age-appropriate repertoire and plan rehearsals effectively.

* Collaborate with school leadership and staff to support multidisciplinary projects and school events.

* Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment with high expectations for student conduct and engagement.

* Assess student progress, provide feedback, and communicate with parents as needed.

* Maintain instruments, classroom materials, and performance equipment.

* Uphold the mission, values, and expectations of the charter school.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field required.

* Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure preferred (state-specific).

* Experience working with elementary and middle school students, preferably in a school setting.

* Proficiency in vocal instruction; instrumental proficiency is a plus.

* Strong classroom management and communication skills.

* Ability to lead performances and coordinate events.

* Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Skills

* Experience in choral directing.

* Ability to accompany students on piano or guitar.

* Familiarity with charter school environments.

* Strong organizational and program-planning abilities.
