• Work with state agencies to implement standards and ensure compliance.
• Provide direction, consultation, and supervision to exceptional children services personnel.
• Prepare, organize and submit required local, state and federal reports.
• Engage in professional development.
• Collaborate with administrators of related services for implementation and programming.
• Lead teachers in implementation of special education services, including placement decisions.
• Coordinate with partner departments on instructional programming.
• Coordinate with local agencies, parents, and school personnel on individual cases.
• Monitor progress of services and make recommendations to the Principal.
• Consult with the Principal and Board Chair on individual cases.
• Supervise use of the Department system for exceptional children services.
• Attend state‑level meetings regarding policies, procedures, and legal updates.

• Master’s degree in special education, psychology, curriculum instruction, or school administration.
• 5 to 7 years of experience as a special education teacher or Exceptional Children’s Program Specialist/Administrator.
• Valid teaching license issued by the NC Department of Public Instruction in at least one area of disability.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding services for students with disabilities.
• Skills in counseling and developing staff, program development, and data analysis.

• Ability to operate automated office equipment and run a motor vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret legal documents and execute complex instructions.

Full‑Time

$50,000 to $70,000 Per Year
