Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach Truck Driver training courses in a variety of formats (i.e. classroom, on field and on road) while caring for and maintaining the track and facilities. The faculty member must be able to instruct a wide variety of topics and techniques required in this regulated curriculum and will be required to teach day, evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
Additionally, the instructor will administer commercial driver’s license ( CDL ) testing as a third-party examiner upon certification from the State of North Carolina.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Class A CDL License and Long Form Physical or North Carolina Waiver
- North Carolina CDL Third-party Examiner certification or the ability to attain it within 1 year
- Associate’s degree or higher from an institutionally accredited school/college.
- Five years recent driving experience as a CDL
-A Truck Driver - Meet or exceed all North Carolina regulatory requirements to conduct driver training in the classroom, on the field and on the road as outlined in 19A NCAC 03J.0501.
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in Truck Driving topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, driver trainer, on-the-job training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
- Greater than five years recent driving experience as a CDL
-A Truck Driver - Teaching experience in a Truck Driver Training program
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel and Powerpoint).

- Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. and be able to move training equipment around on the training field. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include some evenings and weekends in order to accommodate public/student needs. Assignment may require instruction and program development on the Jamestown, Greensboro and High Point campuses.
