Associate Dean of Research and Innovation

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (A&T) State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean of Research and Innovation (ADRI). The ADRI reports to the Dean of the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences (HCHHS) and is a member of the College Leadership Team. The ADRI is responsible for developing and implementing the vision, plan, and policies to guide the college's research goals and outcomes, and for leading all aspects of the college's research agenda, including research infrastructure and operations.

The ADRI is expected to work closely and collaboratively with faculty, department Chairs, and support staff. The Associate Dean will provide leadership to the research and innovation arm of the HCCHS and is responsible for increasing sponsored research; facilitating development and implementation of multidisciplinary projects; seeking out new sources of funding; connecting the departments and the School of Nursing in innovative and creative ways for success in the research funding space;

and overseeing the ethical, informed, and safe conduct of research. The ADRI will have academic and scientific experience in conducting and managing research programs; securing external funding; familiarity with federal grant finance and compliance issues; experience evaluating research proposals; and will possess the leadership qualities and abilities needed to support the college in achieving its vision of being internationally acclaimed for its interdisciplinary and innovative research.

Specific responsibilities of the ADRI include: supporting proposal development, mentoring initiatives for junior faculty; providing leadership and oversight for the research enrichment activities; assisting faculty with overseeing their research budgets and programs; evaluating research center opportunities; fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary research between departments and between the School of Nursing and other academic units at NC A&T working with the Division of Research (DOR) on all aspects of research administration including compliance;

working with the grant administrator to support proposal development and post-award grant management.

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences (HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. Constituent departments in the HCCHS are Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), Kinesiology, Physician Assistant Studies, Population Health Management and Policy (PHMP), Psychology, and Social Work and Sociology (SW&S). The HCCHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs;
Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCCHS offers four graduate degree programs; the Masters in Physician Assistant Studies (PA program), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Health Psychology, PhD in Social Work, PhD in Applied Psychology, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with concentrations in Nursing Leadership and Mental Health/Psychiatry.

The HCCHS is also home to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research (CIHDER), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement efforts to alleviate health disparities. The HCCHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these departments to develop advanced academic programming. Through innovative programs and high-impact and student-centered pedagogy, faculty in the HCCHS foster an inter-professional learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students.

Faculty also engage in scholarly and service activities at the department, school, college, university, and community levels, and within professional organizations.
