purpose of the organizational unit

in support of the mission of unc greensboro, the university registrar's office fosters student success and cultivates exemplary student experiences for all university constituents related to academic records, policies, and regulations.

position summary

reporting to the assistant registrar, the academic records specialist is responsible for degree clearance support; tracking of degree progress, certification of graduation for undergraduate students; and serves as a point of contact for the degree clearance area. This position communicates with students, advisors, and other faculty and staff to ensure that graduation applicants have met the requirements for their degrees. This position also assists students needing notarization of documents for the purpose of obtaining an apostille and serves as a backup for ordering diplomas.

Additionally, this position will collaborate with the degree works team to process curriculum modifications and input foreign language placement test scores and waivers for students.

this position works collaboratively with admissions and transfer articulation and is responsible for the daily management of the processes associated with degree works and graduation clearance for students. This position is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of academic courses, program requirements, and university catalog policies at unc greensboro. The academic records specialist works with others to implement institutional strategic initiatives and ensure compliance with statewide policies and initiatives.

This position will work closely with faculty and academic affairs staff to develop proficiency in college academic requirements and to support strategic measures with the unc system.

minimum qualifications
  • bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
preferred qualifications
  • experience in a registrar's, admissions, or academic services environment.
  • experience using student information systems (banner
    9) and degree works.
  • strong commitment for innovation as demonstrated by an ability to be proactive, dynamic, forward-thinking, strategic and collaborative.
