Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Kinesiology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant or associate professor with a brain health related research program. The ideal candidate will apply nanotechnology approaches for imaging and analysis of biomarkers of brain injury. This position is part of a strategic cluster across the University with three separate hires in the Departments of Kinesiology, Psychology, and Nanoengineering whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on brain health.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide student centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, engage in program assessment, and accreditation related procedures. The ideal candidate will have training and experience in working in a dynamic Kinesiology Department whose scholarly research agenda is in alignment with aims of the Brain Health cluster hire.
This candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally funded research program in their field of expertise, individually and collaboration with the interdisciplinary research cluster; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in psychology courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) supervise and support Kinesiology students in independent research projects;
and (vi) provide service to the Department of Kinesiology, the College and University as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Research program in brain health that employs nanotechnology approaches
- Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate Kinesiology programs
- Postdoctoral training
- Evidence of student advisement and training
- ACSM certification
