Position Summary

We are seeking an Academic Professional Track Assistant/Associate Professor to serve as the Physical Activity Instructional Program Coordinator for the Department of Kinesiology. This is a 9-month appointment with the potential to teach summer classes. The role facilitates and coordinates the physical activity instruction program within the Department of Kinesiology and across the UNCG campus. Typical duties include:

  • Teaching departmental courses (Strength Training and Conditioning, Lifetime Wellness, Physical Activity Instruction, Exercise Prescription) and other physical activity courses.
  • Coordinating the physical activity instructional program (scheduling, equipment management).
  • Onboarding, training, and supervising approximately 12-15 graduate assistants at the beginning of the fall semester.
  • Advising undergraduate students on semester course selections and planning their path to graduation.
  • Engaging in departmental, university, and community service; developing relationships with physical activity entities across the university (athletics, campus recreation, student and employee wellness programs).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in kinesiology or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience organizing and promoting community- and/or institution-based physical activity programs.
  • Ability to teach human anatomy/physiology and/or certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, or other reputable fitness organizations.
