Part-Time Instructor​/Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design

Position Overview

Part‑time Instructors are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis to teach specific courses in areas such as plant science, horticulture, soil science, sustainable land management, environmental science, and other natural‑resources related areas. The maximum teaching load is four courses per semester. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching face‑to‑face course lecture and laboratory sections, conducting assessment of student learning, and submitting teaching materials as part of the semester review.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in an agricultural or natural‑resources related field.

• 1–3 years of teaching experience at the university or community college level
• Background in plant and soil science

This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2‑hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
