The Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the overall growth and school readiness of young children. This role creates and maintains a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that promotes children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The Teacher fosters positive relationships with children and families, encourages family involvement, and ensures a high-quality early learning experience aligned with program standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Curriculum and Learning Environment
  • Organize and use classroom space, materials, and routines to create an engaging, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment that encourages play, exploration, and learning.
  • Maintain centers for dramatic play, science, art, blocks, technology, manipulatives/fine motor activities, and reading; maintain diaper changing and crib areas in infant rooms.
  • Develop and implement integrated activities that support growth across all developmental domains.
  • Ensure the curriculum respects and reflects diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Teacher-Child Interaction
  • Communicate effectively and developmentally appropriately with children to foster physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.
  • Interact with children at their level using a positive, encouraging approach.
  • Model and support problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Participate in learning centers and group activities, supporting smooth transitions between activities.
  • Assist children with self-care and everyday tasks, maintaining a clean and organized learning environment.
Adult-Adult Interaction
  • Foster cooperative relationships with co-workers through open communication, sharing resources, and supporting professional development.
  • Build supportive relationships with parents by respecting their culture and values and sharing information about child development.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative atmosphere in the workplace.
Observations and Assessment
  • Observe and document children’s development using tools such as Creative Curriculum Color and Ages & Stages.
  • Provide observation feedback to parents, FSC leadership, and Success Coaches.
Parent Involvement
  • Communicate program activities to parents regularly (newsletters, bulletin boards).
  • Orient parents to classroom routines and invite them to participate in classroom and family activities.
  • Encourage parent engagement and maintain professional, respectful relationships with families.
  • Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for parents, children, and staff.
Program Management
  • Utilize available resources to ensure effective classroom operations.
  • Report all suspected child abuse and accidents promptly to the FSC leadership team.
  • Accurately complete and submit all required documentation (attendance, reports, forms).
  • Request supplies and equipment as needed; maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom.
  • Attend all required meetings and complete at least two additional educational workshops per year.
Essential Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED. Prefer: A.A.S or B.S. in Early Childhood

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, children,

parents and volunteers.

Physical, Mental and /or Visual Demands
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
