The department seeks candidates with strong potential for research and teaching in statistics. Applicants whose research interests include machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science or biostatistics are preferred, but strong applicants in all research areas will be considered.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active program of research and scholarship, pursue opportunities for external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, advise and mentor students, and contribute appropriate service to the department, university, and profession. Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary research and collaboration across the university and with external partners. The successful candidate will also mentor students in UNCG’s growing B.S. in Statistics and M.S. Capstone projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold or anticipate a PhD in Statistics or closely related discipline by August 1, 2027.

Additional consideration will be given to candidates who also have one or more of the following:

  • 1. Experience in consulting and collaborative research;
  • 2. Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
