The Department of Psychology, within the Hairston College of Healthand Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an Associate Professor with a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience/Biological Psychology .Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in
1) substance use disorders,
2) memory and cognition,
3) applied psychology, or
4) health psychology. . The primary purpose of this role is to provide student centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses.

Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, engage inprogram assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strongexternally-funded research program in their field of expertise;(ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in psychology courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) supervise and supportpsychology students in independent research projects;

and (viprovide service to the Department of Psychology, the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

This is a 9-month, tenure-track position.

The Department of Psychology is a supportive community of committed faculty and practitioners whose goals are to introduce students tothe ideas and concepts relevant to this discipline, encourage interdisciplinary learning, prepare students for study in graduateschools, prepare students for entry-level jobs requiring knowledge in psychology, and train students to conduct both basic and applied research. These goals are reached through quality classroom instruction, departmental colloquia, departmental student organizations, internship opportunities through independent study,and individualized research projects.

The Department of Psychologyhas 840 enrolled undergraduate students and 30 graduate students.

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences ( HCHHS ) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs:
Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree programs, including the Masters in Physician Assistant Studies (PAprogram), Master of Social Work ( MSW ), Master of Science in Health Psychology and Ph.D. in Social Work, PhD in Applied Psychology, and Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ).

The HCHHS alsohosts the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparitiesand Equity Research ( CIHDER ), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement to reduce health inequities.

HCHHS leverages the synergistic relationships among these departments to develop advanced academic programming, strengthentrainee mentoring, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research and scholarly activity.
