We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager with a background in electrical or power engineering to join our Research, Development and Innovations team. In this role you will help lead the development of next-generation RF, Optical, and Connectivity Solutions, managing R&D and IP efforts from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables- Project Planning & Scope Management
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria for each project.
- Develop and manage project plans including schedule, resources, budgets and risk mitigation strategies.
- Scope change control process management; any scope changes documented, reviewed and approved.
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Collaborate and lead multidisciplinary teams including internal cross-functional department resources, 3rd party engineering firms, General Counsel/Legal, and external vendors to ensure alignment and on-time delivery.
- Conduct regular progress reviews with relevant stakeholders.
- Assign and manage project risk mitigation plans within cross-functional teams.
- Technical Requirements & Standards Oversight
- All project specific functional & technical requirements documented.
- Compliance matrix or checklist ensuring requirements map to telecom industry standards.
- Prototype test plan (electrical, reliability, environment, telecom interface) defined and approved.
- Lessons-learned documented from prototype phase and trials, incorporated into design improvements tracker.
- Monitoring, Controlling & Reporting
- Project progress reports generated and distributed (e.g., schedule vs actual, cost vs budget, risk status).
- Earned Value metrics (or equivalent) tracked and variances analyzed.
- Issues log maintained and escalated as required; corrective actions documented and implemented.
- Budget expenditure monitored, forecast updated periodically, cost-to-complete estimated.
- Project close-out summary: performance vs objectives, final budget reconciliation, lessons-learned repository.
- Deliverable Transition & Knowledge Transfer
- Prototype unit delivered, tested & accepted, with documentation (test reports, verification/validation evidence).
- Transition plan to operations/production prepared, including training and handover documentation.
- Documentation package finalized (requirements spec, design drawings, test protocols/results, change logs, maintenance guidelines).
- Post-launch review completed: performance feedback gathered, improvements documented, roadmap update proposed.
- Archival of project materials into company knowledge management system, and presentation of lessons-learned to wider organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
- Proven experience 5+ years managing R&D projects in telecommunications, electrical or power systems.
- Project Management certification (PMP or PRINCE2) preferred.
- Project Management: scheduling, budgeting, risk/issue management, stakeholder engagement.
- Communication: able to translate complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership: ability to lead a multi-discipline team, influence without formal authority, drive results in an R&D context.
- Self-motivated, strategic thinker, problem solving mindset with a passion for continuous learning and driving innovation.
- Demonstrate integrity, respect for others and ethical behavior.
- Technical background in telecommunication technologies including fiber optic, copper interconnect, power and wireless systems.
- Proven track record in leading end-to-end product development.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and data-driven technical execution.
- Strong stakeholder and team leadership abilities.
- Exposure to lean design/manufacturing practices or cost-reduction initiatives.
